A brief synopsis of the nine noble virtues in the modern world

By Rory H. AOR Courage A small word I am sure that everyone would agree, and not a word that is heard too much these days. Whether that is because of the current trend for people to be mindless, state controlled automatons or as a more…

ORBriefing: A Lifeline for Lone Members

Look what the OR can do for me! Look what it offers! These comments I thought to myself many times, then it dawned on me, if nobody submitted articles to ORBriefing, if nobody took time to organize and work on things, then there would be nothing for the rest of us to enjoy and look forward to!

By Laurel Owen-Scutari I had a stranger email me, wondering whether I was Odinic or Pagan. This person did not even bother to introduce themselves. Are people becoming more rude, or are those of us in the public eye subject to personal questions out of the blue from strangers? I’m not sure. It made me cranky, and not just because of the intrusion and lack of manners. It made me cranky because last year some guy in the Texas prison system who has been writing me for years suddenly decided I was no longer Odinic. He cited the fact I don’t follow the Odinic Rite calendar to the letter, and that I celebrate May Eve, which proves out I’m a pagan, and worthy of sudden distrust. Wow.

Great Moot 2262

By Redwald OR Despite months of planning, this year’s Great Moot held a few last minute twists and turns for all concerned it would seem. On my part, I didn’t find out about the venue change until the day before I was due to set out…

Hail Hervor OR – Katherine ‘Kit’ Kershaw (1930-2012)

On September 13th 2012 ce. one of the Odinic Rite’s finest members passed from this realm. Hervor OR joined the Rite in the 70s along with her husband Asbjeorn. Both had been Odinists before joining the Rite and had long been dedicated and active in advancing our Holy religion and our Folk in both the esoteric and exoteric arenas.

My Path Toward Profession

By Hariulf OR The decision to take the Oath of Profession was a very long process. I am not a person who makes decisions on a whim. Some years have passed now since I joined the Rite. I must say that from my first contacts with the OR, I knew it was an organization where I would feel good, and I knew that I made the right choice.

The Runic Era: Some History of the New Awakening

,
By Heimgest DCG We receive many enquiries about OR practices and questions/misunderstandings about the Runic Era are not rare. Here then are the facts.

Profession and Naming Ceremony

By Wolfram OR Let me start by saying, it was a great honour for me to be professed as I have been a member for several years now. I've held off until recently in applying to be professed as there were conditions/circumstances in my personal life that made me feel unfit for the commitment. I'm now a father of two lovely baby girls and we are an Odinist family

Death: The Meaning of Life

,
A Great Moot talk by Eowyn OR How many of you here know the meaning of life? How many of you are searching for it? Well, I will tell you right now what it is. You, you, you- and you- are all going to die! Every single one of us in this room. It could be today, tomorrow, a year or decades from now. But the immutable fact of life is that nobody but nobody escapes death. It is the one uniting factor of all life on Earth.

My Long Path to Profession

By Thorbera OR I found the path to Odinism in the late ‘90’s. My then middle school aged child, Arinbjor OR, discovered it first and through his learning was able to help me through some rough times. He convinced me I needed to find that…

Freedom

,
by Redwald OR When Friedrich Nietzsche wrote in Thus Spoke Zarathustra, “Are you a man as ought to escape from a yoke?”, he sparked an interesting dilemma for anyone of an evolutionary Odinic mindset.

Function, Faith, Frith

by Michael Boyd AOR In the microcosm and macrocosm there exist paradigms, or patterns, that determine everything. Plato called these “forms”, they are also known as Ideals. This is true of physics as it is of metaphysics yet our focus here is of course to the spiritual and the Odinic ambition of continual “Becoming”
