About Industriousness

As OR members, we are expected to live our lives according to the Nine Noble Virtues. Of course, this is not an easy task and it’s even very difficult at times. But we all join the OR by our free will and it’s by our free will that we have accepted to work to promote the OR and Odinism. It’s by our free will that we accept to strive to live by the NNV. Nobody forces us; it’s our own choice. Among the NNV, there is one that I find very important if we want to see our Sacred Faith advance: INDUSTRIOUSNESS

ORBriefing: A Lifeline for Lone Members

Look what the OR can do for me! Look what it offers! These comments I thought to myself many times, then it dawned on me, if nobody submitted articles to ORBriefing, if nobody took time to organize and work on things, then there would be nothing for the rest of us to enjoy and look forward to!

I had a stranger email me, wondering whether I was Odinic or Pagan. This person did not even bother to introduce themselves. Are people becoming more rude, or are those of us in the public eye subject to personal questions out of the blue from strangers? I’m not sure. It made me cranky, and not just because of the intrusion and lack of manners. It made me cranky because last year some guy in the Texas prison system who has been writing me for years suddenly decided I was no longer Odinic. He cited the fact I don’t follow the Odinic Rite calendar to the letter, and that I celebrate May Eve, which proves out I’m a pagan, and worthy of sudden distrust. Wow.

Their ripples touch our thoughts and hopes
And weave their subtle rhyme

One of the most common questions we get asked is how to get through “Christmas” when you are not a Christian. Well just take a look at what are considered the general trappings of “Christmas” and you will find that it all has origins in the pre-Christian past of our folk.

A Different Kind of Wrapping!

Sometimes the best part of a gift is the wrapping! One of our commenters offered up some great ideas, and we thought it would be great to share a little “how to” so folks can recreate these fun wrapping ideas this year. Thank you “Frau Williams” for offering these great ideas and sharing them with our Folk!

A great way to create some unique personalized ornaments for a Yule tree is to utilize hot glue. This is a very flexible craft where you can make snowflakes, runes, ancient symbols, etc…

Folk Spirit to start the day

By Shawn E AOR

Being new to the Odinic Rite can be a tricky thing, as there is much to learn and much to unlearn from previous paths traveled. However, I have found something that has helped me in several ways in my daily life. That is daily meditation and use of the Folk Spirit CD.

“Le Cliot de Tsèrafouén” – The Hollow Of Fairies

By Hariulf OR Here is a beautiful legend from my land. This is not really “Odinic” but it’s interesting because it shows that despite the Christianization of the folk, the belief in the invisible world has never completely disappeared. In fact this belief remains deeply entrenched in the soul of our Folk. This story speaks […]
