Charades

This ancient games goes well back into antiquity. In French the word Charade means, used to indicate a riddle either in verse or prose, of which the listener must guess the meaning, often given syllable by syllable. Although this sounds like a really fun version of Charades, it is more commonly played as a pantomime game where a mime plays out in gestures an act or subject and players must guess what the mime is acting out. To make it heritage related, the children can choose some theme that is about their Folk. Our children have done Edda stories, Grimm’s Fairy tales and Heritage related movies. It is so much fun and a great way to pass time in the dark winter months. It also utilizes information recall and helps children rekindle knowledge learned long before!
