Hierarchy of Needs
Family & Society, OR and OdinismOften over dinner conversation in our household, we discuss the chaos that surrounds our Folk. We are usually left grasping at exactly “why” the terrible things in this world are allowed to continue. Why do the powers that be allow the most despicable activities to continue? Interestingly enough there is an explanation. It begins with the business world…the economic world.

Balder, Ruler of an Age to come
Deities & LoreBy Arnbald, OR-B & FS
In the heathen tradition, Balder is certainly one of the most popular, but also one of the most perplexing gods. He seems to be quite well known. Almost everyone has heard of him or, at least, knows his name. But actually, very little is known of this divine character. We hardly find a book which would deal exclusively or mainly of him.

Death: The path to vibrant life
OR and OdinismBy Eowyn OR
Death is such a huge concern, that it is central to some spiritual traditions; so this brief discussion can do little other than whet our taste buds to its flavour and essence so we might gain a snapshot feel for its character. Hence, without further ado, let us define what we mean by "death."

The Yule Tower, Heart(h) of the Northern World.
Deities & LoreBy Arnbald OR-B & FS (Brittany & French Saxony)
For many Odinists today, the Yule tower (Julleuchter) appears as one of the main cultual artefacts in the family hof. As its names suggests, it is mainly involved in the Yule time celebrations. If it has became an important symbol of the old faith, the artefact itself – as we shall see – not necessarily an old symbol.

The Solitary Path
OR and OdinismBy Mike P AOR
I do not know the true figures, but I would hazard a guess that about 80% of the Odinic Rite membership celebrates its religion in a solitary manner. Which means that for the vast majority of us Blot and Sumbel are simply not going to happen – we have no-one with whom to share such occasions, no-one we can join in prayer or practice. Or have we?

Modern Enemy – Modern Psyche
Family & SocietyBy Phil AOR
This article is not intended to be a history of Kings and wars, nor could I relate facts any better than the multitude of books available on the subject. What this article is about is the psychological and physical way power is won and lost, how it affects the people of Britain today and how we can reclaim our birthright.

Holographic Ecology: Nemesis of the Loki-ites
HealthBy Eowyn OR
There is a great agenda which apparently threatens the very soul-path and evolution of our folk. All folk in the Rite are aware of this fact in some way. We see it in the wanton destruction of our heritage, our lands and our people. Deforestation, relentless road-building, immigration, pollution in our food and water supplies, media-disinformation: all are factors in the equation which I don't need to elaborate upon.

The Journey – Part IV: The Revolution
Poetry & Proseby Redwald AOR
The cool breeze brought a tantalising smell of springtime, and Dylan breathed deeply as he pushed his wheelbarrow down the garden path. He stopped and surveyed the barren looking ground before him, then closed his eyes and tried to picture how it would look in a few months’ time.

The Journey – Part III
Poetry & ProseBy Phil AOR
Sweat ran down Dylan’s face, despite the sub-zero temperatures. He knew he had to rest; just for a few minutes in order to get some food inside him. A rocky outcrop appeared along the path, and Dylan quickened his pace. Moments later he was squatting down beside his rucksack, out of reach of the icy wind. He stuffed his map case inside his coat and flexed his hands in an attempt to get the blood circulating, then rapidly sought out his flask and sandwiches.

The Journey – Part II
Poetry & ProseBy Phil AOR
Things were pretty normal in the weeks after the accident. Time spent in the hospital had been short lived and rebuilding the damaged bike was first and foremost in Dylan’s mind upon his release. Progress was slow until the insurance cheque came through, but thereafter things moved along quickly. Yet as the last finishing touches were completed, a weight began to impose itself on his shoulders.

The Journey – Part I
Poetry & ProseBy Phil AOR
The colours passed by in a blur of yellow, red and orange, and the cool autumn air rushed across Dylan’s face as he picked another gear and listened to the thunder from the open pipes of his jet black Triumph motorcycle. In another age his steed would have had iron hooves rather than rubber radials, but in essence it was all the same. As far as transport was concerned, the motorcycle, like the horse, was the natural choice of the free thinker and kept the weather-beaten traveller in close contact with the elements.

Attracting Women to the Rite – Some considerations.
Family & Society, OR and OdinismBy Eowyn OR
As a revolutionary organisation operating within the context of a modern universalist culture, the OR faces many challenges to not only sustain folkish ways, but also to build towards a better future for its people with an infrastructure that honours multiversal values. Amongst the most pressing challenges we face is that of attracting more women into the Rite. This is not merely an exercise in building numbers, nor even about trying to have equal numbers of each sex (as desirable as this might be); it is about a fundamental balancing of the energies that create the matrix on which the Rite's activities are woven.
