Cattle die and kinsmen die,
\nThyself soon wilt die;
\nBut fair fame will fade never,
\nFor whomever will win it.<\/p>\n

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hervor<\/a> and have said that she was an inspiration to me. I now feel that I need to take that statement further to quantify that remark.<\/p>\n

When I joined the OR my first study project was the Circle of Ostara\u2019s work on Odinic Mythology which had just been published. This work resonated deeply within my psyche and I wrote to Hervor to explain how I was absorbing the knowledge within it. I did this in a poem which I entitled Creation. Hervor included it in the Odinic Rite year book \u201cThe North Wind\u201d published in September 1991 along with another poem I had written entitled \u201cThe Dance\u201c.<\/p>\n

These poems were written before I had refined my runic name which I had been given in a rune meditation. Ansuz and Wunjo which I then interpreted phonetically as Ao. The following is the poem inspired by Hervor and the Circle of Ostara\u2019s work. This is my tribute to the memory of Hervor OR.
\nHail Hervor
\nFFF<\/p>\n

Creation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vortex of power forever in motion,
\nevolving, forming and re-forming.
\nSpiralling mystic threads encompassing all,
\nweaving a pattern of all that has been,
\nof all that is, and all that will be.
\nIntelligence, matter, spirit in symmetry.
\nThe Holy being, being whole, infinite,
\nwithout end, without beginning,
\nWyrd, the whole, all.<\/p>\n

Within the vortex lies the void,
\nthe yawning gulf, Ginnunagap.
\nDark and still, yet full of life,
\nlife of forces opposite but equal,
\nforces of stillness, forces of motion,
\npositive, and negative, ice and fire,
\nmeeting and mingling, creating a third,
\nneither one nor the other but both,
\nYmir, the primal substance.<\/p>\n

Substance of forms that were,
\nforms that are, and forms that will be.
\nChanging substance, evolving substance,
\nat once fluid and yet solid.
\nForming and re-forming,
\ngrowing and receding,
\nsplitting and coming together,
\nawaiting the catalyst of change,
\nAudumla, shaper of life.<\/p>\n

A catalytic change in the substance
\nbrings forth a form, progenitor,
\na form containing the seed of life,
\nthe source from which all life forms spring.
\nFrom microbe to mammoth,
\nfrom living rock to man,
\nfrom satellite to sun.
\nThe Aesir from him are born,
\nBuri, the father of life.<\/p>\n

The seed was sown, a multiverse arose,
\nwhen Buri caressed our mother the Earth.
\nAsgard, where the Gods keep watch.
\nMidgard, full of teeming life.
\nHel, the shining realm of Holy Power,
\nthe home of the sacred wells.
\nThe wells of life, of wisdom and of fate,
\nin which the roots of life are nourished.
\nYgdrassil, the world tree.<\/p>\n

Holy powers, intelligent powers,
\nof wisdom, love, fertility and courage,
\nform the human beasts in their image
\nand imbue them with free will,
\nto care for Midgard and all it\u2019s life.
\nLodir gave us bloodline, our genetic code.
\nSelfhood and will-power Honir gave us.
\nOdin gave us spirit, our divine connection
\nwith the Aesir,
